PAU signs MoU with University of Florida


Punjab Agricultural University has signed agreements of cooperation with two American universities, viz University of California, Davis and University of Florida, to enhance academic interchange and to further the development of basic scientific and technological research and faculty-student exchange programmes.

The agreement of cooperation between PAU and the University of California was signed by the Vice-Chancellor Dr K S Aulakh and Chancellor Dr Larry N. Vanderhoef, respectively. This is for a period of three years. The MoU between PAU and University of Florida was signed by Director Research Dr B S Dhillon and Dean International Centre Dennis C. Jett. This agreement terminates on June 30, 2009.

Dr Aulakh today said these agreements were signed during his visit to the USA in the last week of May at the invitation of the two universities. He was accompanied by Dr Dhillon and Punjab Horticulture Post Harvest Technology Centre Director Dr A S Dhatt.

PAU students return from Moscow. A group on nine B.Tech students of PAU College of Agricultural Engineering returned from Moscow yesterday. They had gone to Moscow State University of Environmental Engineering for attending a two-week practical training from May28 to June 11.

“The students were imparted training in land-leveling, modeling of salt water movements in soils, GIS and remote sensing, designing and testing of pumps, measuring contaminants in air and hydro-chemical analysis of water,” said Dr P P S Lobana, the teacher-in-charge who accompanied the students for the training.
