Historical Maps of Florida's Counties

I recently came across a project website from last year that includes historical maps of Florida's Counties from 1821 - 1925. We have come a long way from the two original counties of Escambia and St. John's. Looking over the change of boundaries through time made me wonder if Mosquito County lived up to it's name back in 1840?

The project was developed as a "Community Education Information System for Historic Structures" and was funded/completed by the Florida State Department, the Urban and Regional Planning Department at the University of Florida, and the GIS Division of the Growth Management Department in Alachua County.

Please be sure to check out the Interactive GIS Applications for historic structures within the historical portals for Alachua County, the City of Lakeland, the City of Leesburg, and the City of Sarasota.
