Florida's Strategic Intermodal System Interactive Map and Database Updated
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has recently updated their Strategic Intermodal System (SIS) Interactive Map and Database and addressed specified issues based upon comments and responses received to date.
The deadline for comments on the 2007 SIS Data & Designation Review Report is April 7th, 2008. The final revisions are preliminarly scheduled to be completed in early May.
Per the FDOT's description, the "SIS is a statewide network of high-priority transportation facilities, including the state’s largest and most significant commercial service airports, spaceport, deepwater seaports, freight rail terminals, passenger rail and intercity bus terminals, rail corridors, waterways and highways. These facilities are the workhorses of Florida’s transportation system, carrying more than 99 percent of all commercial air passengers, virtually all waterborne freight tonnage, almost all rail freight, and more than 68 percent of all truck traffic and 54 percent of total traffic on the State Highway System."
