ESRI Updates Transportation Data Model & Design Templates
ESRI has recently updated their Transportation Data Model & Design Templates.
Per the ESRI Support Center website: "The Transportation Data Model has been developed by a group of ESRI Transportation Industry users, consultants, ESRI Business partners, and academics. The goal is to define an "essential data model" for ArcGIS user organizations with in the transportation industry, and in particular for roadway management organizations (e.g., DOTs), as well as for Railroads, Transit, Airport, and Waterway Authorities. Central areas for the group include road and rail network topology, linear referencing systems, dynamic event representation and asset location and management.
For a data models that are oriented towards local/state government needs for roads and addressing, please refer to the GIS for the Nation and Address data models."
