With the recent announcement that Nokia has reached a definitive agreement to acquire NAVTEQ, the takeover rumorville has been spinning for TomTom / Tele Atlas.
Speculation is spreading that TomTom's potential $2.7 billion takeover of Tele Atlas will fall through prior to the deal's expiration date of December 4th, 2007. TomTom may have to sweeten the takeover bid, as if the deal fell through, they would likely face some fierce competition from the "Nok-TEQ" powerhouse once a new line of products is unleashed.
The word on the streets is that everyone from Garmin and Google to Microsoft and Yahoo may enter into a bidding war for TomTom / Tele Atlas.
