Pull Over at the Nearest Gas Station and Ask Google Maps for Directions

Gilbarco Veeder-Root, has announced a new line of gas pumps that will incorporate an internet connection and a Google Maps interface through their Applause Media System for Encore.

A cool idea that amounts to being the poor man's Garmin - nuvi 770.

The interface will allow gas station patrons to print out maps which will include advertisements from local businesses, but won't allow users to ask for point-to-point directions. A major flaw if you ask me.

Hopefully, the user interface will advance so patrons can input actual addresses to get full directions or complete advance searches, such as where to find the cheapest gas.
