The National Renewable Energy Laboratory Offers GIS Data & Analysis Tools

The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) now offers Dynamic Maps, GIS Data and Analysis Tools to determine which renewable energy resources are viable solutions across the world.

Downloadable GIS Data is available for Biomass, Solar, and Wind energy resources. Additional data available includes Alternative Fuel Station GIS Coordinates and Transmission Line Data.

Please see the Data & Analysis Tools page for a full description of available data.

The Analysis Tools includes the Geospatial Toolkit, a "map based software application with predefined queries that can be used for decision-making and policy analysis in addition to planning for future renewable energy projects."

"The application utilizes Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to develop common scenarios to evaluate potential locations for renewable energy plants (solar, wind, and where data is available - micro-hydro, biomass, geothermal, etc.) nationally and internationally."
