GIS Corner Launched as The Meeting Place for GIS Users

Daniel Johns has recently launched GIS Corner as a free community forum were users can exchange ideas, scripts, ask questions, or comment on all things related to GIS and CAD.

Since more and more companies are migrating from CAD into GIS on a regular basis, a platform was needed as a meeting place for users to share knowledge, combine ideas, and learn how to accomplish their own goals. GIS Corner was created and launched in early 2008 to fill a void in the marketplace and will become the go-to site for users whom may be looking to learn more about or work within the GIS industry.

Please register today!

If you have any further questions or inquiries about GIS Corner, please feel free to contact Daniel at cadmoogle@giscorner.com

About Daniel Johns:

For the past four years Daniel has been working with CAD and GIS at a local water/wastewater utility company in Clay County, FL. He has a thorough background in CAD, but has recently started to focus more on the GIS side and now has fully adjusted to understanding the terminology and functions of GIS applications and software.

As a devoted drafter, he did not want to abandon any of his roots of course as CAD was still used within his daily job functions. To expand upon this, he implemented custom scripts and techniques to assist in meeting his GIS goals. He has also recognized the fact that many GIS users actually come from a CAD background. As part of this transition, many leave the CAD industry completely in order to solely focus on GIS.

Daniel wanted to take a different approach to resolve his related issues because he had thousands of CAD drawings that needed to be moved into GIS. He created a “standard” on how to complete this process so other users could learn from him. This led to the initial stages and development of the GIS Corner forum.

Daniel currently resides in the Northeast Florida area and has previously earned an associates degree from ITT Technical Institute in CADD. He now attends Florida Community College of Jacksonville (FCJJ) while working towards obtaining his associates of arts degree. His short term goal is to transfer to the University of North Florida (UNF) to major in civil engineering all while working on his GIS Professional Certification (GISP) and continuing to manage GIS Corner.
