Streamlined Infrastructure Protects GIS Data in Charlotte County, FL

An article in Washington Technology has detailed the importance of having streamlined storage infrastructure, especially in emergency situations such as a hurricane strike.

The government in Charlotte County, FL originally had sixty-five stand-alone servers, but recently completed an upgrade and redesign to get down to six physical servers. It was a process that initially started after Hurricane Charley struck in 2004 as emergency workers and first responders needed constant and immediate access to GIS data.
