Boating Survey and GIS Used to Help Improve Water Access in Collier County

Per a recent article by Eric Statts of the Naples Daily News, Collier County along with Florida Sea Grant and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) are studying local boater's habits by collecting location, access, and destination data through survey mailings.

It is anticipated that first of three surveys would be mailed out to more than 6,000 local boaters. The boating survey results would be mapped within a GIS application for analysis purposes in order to "improve boat access, find congestion hot spots and protect manatees and sea grasses."
