Nassau County, Florida Deploys Geo-Visus Inc’s DCI©™ Solution for Rapid Field Data Collection

Geo-Visus Inc. announces Nassau County, Florida chose their Data Collection Infrastructure (DCI©™) as its Mobile GIS standard. DCI©™ was selected because of its simple user experience and management process for their mobile deployments so that each field worker did not require large amounts of training or specialist devices to capture as much information as possible about new and existing infrastructure throughout each department.

Nassau County has rolled out the DCI©™ with the Utilities Department in a pilot project over the last month to collect the locations and information of all Fire Hydrants in their Water Utility Network using Trimble GeoXH field devices. They are able to quickly download their daily projects, access only the GIS data they need for that project directly over the network (Cell/WiFi) without having to go to the office every time, and they can upload their work throughout the day ensuring that nothing is lost.

“With Geo-Visus’s assistance, Nassau County successfully deployed the DCI©™ solution to our field personnel,” states John Crowder, Support Services Director. “Using the DCI©™ solution, we are able to extend our investment in ESRI’s ArcGIS Server by facilitating rapid data collection for both the Building and Utilities Departments and keep data synchronized between the office and field.”

DCI©™ leverages the ArcGIS Server and ArcGIS Mobile products from ESRI and is ideal for firms looking to take advantage of online mapping, wireless data collection, and hosted QA/QC tools for supporting a range of business processed that require accurate and fast access to infrastructure maps in a highly-scalable hosted environment.
